Late January Hello!

Image
Well, the holidays got the best of me. Between festivities, work, customs, and general duties, I did not update my blog, website, and even fell off my Sunday eBay auction routine :(  But I am back now, and I have a sneak peek of the next 2 Sunday auctions! Also, a bit of insight into my current projects, which were also taking up more time than I thought they would (my bad). First, the fresh new arts- this upcoming Sunday (February 2) I will be listing "Pebble Pixie" for auction on eBay with a starting bid of $8.50: and Sunday, February 9 will be "Cherry Blossom Fawn", same place, same starting bid: Generally I post them around 11am PST, though sometimes I am running a bit late...it depends on the work day (yes, I work weekends and I list things from my phone).   So, I have not updated my website/galleries with any new art or dolls, though I do have some that I need to get to (we will get back on the website update train in Feb!) A few new dolls, a few new fantasy...

Work in Progress ACEOs!

Image
Ah, I see I skipped last week :/ Well, I do have a work in progress photo of a new batch of ACEOs, and of course a sneak peek of the Sunday auction! Besides that, I am kind of boring lately, maybe I will ramble a bit... Okee, first- I managed to remember to take a snapshot of this new batch of ACEOs before finishing them: They are coming along well now, I've lined them all in ink and will shade them in grey ink soon. Then colors!  Sunday's auction this week will be a sweet little fairy and a bumble bee: She is titled "Bumble Buds" and again, she will be up for auction on eBay starting this upcoming Sunday (4/17, also Easter I see my calendar is telling me). There are a handful of new ACEOs listed right now, you can browse through them if you want to: see HERE !  Um, I guess I don't have much to ramble about...wanting to make up some t shirt designs, and I had an idea for my next doll project (who knows when i will get to her!)  Xo, though! ACEO Sneak Peek and Featured Art

Image
Greetings! As it is a new month, I do have a new Featured Art on my website, and I also have a glimpse at some upcoming ACEO illustrations to share today. So here we go... Featured Art on my website for February is a large painting of my original "Smokeshow" genie illustration. The painting itself is quite large for what I usually offer, at 18" x 24" on gallery wrapped canvas.   Here is a picture: "Smokeshow" is an acrylic painting, 18" x 24" on gallery wrapped canvas. You can view her page on my website HERE , where there is a full write up and purchase information (which can also be found HERE ).  And now for a very quick, very unfinished sneak peek at the little batch of ACEOs I am currently working on: As you can see, they have not been shaded or colored yet...but one if them will be completed and up for auction on eBay for Sunday morning!  I have been busy getting To the Nines limited edition ACEOs printed and embellished and rea...

A day late update!

Image
Phhh, well, holiday season has me behind schedule, unsurprisingly.  Also, I kinda loafed around more than I should have yesterday- started off early and strong, but took a short nap around noon and then just never got back on the fast track. Blaming the extra shifts at the restaurant, and Spiderman...mostly Spiderman. Our restaurant is directly across the hall from a cinema. Inside of a shopping mall. Blah blah, at any rate, I have a few work in progress pictures of a new ACEO series- these are not going to be "attached" like the To the Nines series, but more a grouping of similars... the one I've got the furthest on is "Broccoli": here she is with some pen work:   I've got sketches of Carrot and Apple, and plotting for Black Raspberry, Peas, and Pear on deck. (And a few fantasy creatures as well!)  Hoping to have the Sunday auction as scheduled, though it very well may be later in the day, and also I have no idea what it will be yet,...

Work in progress of To the Nines- Kitchen

Image
A new "To the Nines" ACEO piece is here- well, almost! I do have a bunch of progress photos to share. Got up extra early this morning to get the black ink down, then some shading in grey, then colors... This was the final thumbnail I decided on- got very caught up in kitchen layout and whatnot, spent three days sketching and we have this: So, the hardest part is over, now we move on to getting it sized properly on "fancy" paper: Then my favorite part- pen! Decided to mess with watercolors for this piece...not exactly my forté, but I wanted to do a sepia wash, and didnt want to hurt my precious markers by using them in top of pigments... Some more color: Once I am satisfied with the layers of watercolor, I will go back over certain lines with pen, and add details in colored pencil and acrylic paint.  I thought maybe I could get it finished today, but I had to stop for food and then I got distracted in...

Sneak Peek, December Featured Art, and new ACEOs!

Image
Friday Hellos! I have new art, sneak peek/WIP pic, and the featured art for this month... Remember those "weird" drawings I mentioned last week? Well, I listed one of them this evening- "Weird Girl 1" (I know, such a creative title, hehe). I saw a very well composed photo of some kind of bug (I think it was a variety of mantis, but it was very furry looking and had lots of feathery tendrils, and I am no bug expert)...so that is what inspired this first weird girl: She is currently up for Auction/Buy It Now on eBay HERE if you have any interest in homing her. I will be putting up "Weird Girl 2" on Sunday am (might be closer to noon time, I think I will be at brunch with Dad beforehand) but here is a preview of her... I was very inspired with the bugs, so found some cool looking moth reference pictures to work from for her.  Again, she will be listed for auction on Sunday- check this link to see if she is up yet:   All Em's Auctions What is next here......

"Four Eyes" Jester Art Work in Progress + New Mermaid ACEO

Image
Greetings! Well, dinner is heating up in the oven (leftovers!) and while I wait for that, let's share some new stuff! Firstly, I have just begun a new painting (from an older ACEO that I love so much) and figured I'd post up my one progress photo.  Tentatively titled "Four Eyes"- based off of my "The Eyes 4" ACEO. Just some shading in browns and grey for now, unsure as to final color choices or background...kind of just playing around with it: The other new art today is a mermaid ACEO- she is reading a book from her library! Books are so fun to draw. As are the underwater worlds that I have never been to... "Leisure Read" is an original ACEO illustration (inks on bristol, 3.5" x 2.5") and is currently available on eBay HERE .   I know I have been rather crap about listing things on eBay these past few weeks. There are some new Open Edition ACEOs coming up, and I've just gotten through a new batch of Limited Edition ACEOs ...

Poppy the Flower Fashionista - Monster High Art Doll

Image
Hi Hi! This is a doll post, so I forgive you if you have no interest ;)  But I wanted to show off my latest refurbished Monster High doll creation... I was needing some inspiration, so I looked up haute couture and found some fashions that were SO COOL, I just HAD to make a tiny version!   "Poppy" is her name, and I love how she turned out. LOVE IT, loved making this outfit SO MUCH. I also happen to love poppies, they are my favorite flower, so I tried to do them justice in the tiny changes of texture.  They are delicate but also quite bold, and it is that duality that I appreciate the most about them. So I tried to get all that into a doll.  The fashion inspiration was a huge help. Below, the only two progress shots I managed to remember to take during the creative process: I remove her head from her body, remove all her hair and face paint, cut off the top of her scalp, scrape out the remaining glue and hair bits (dollie brains) and then I CUT OUT HER EY...

New ACEOs and "To the Nines" ACEO series sneak peek

Image
Happy Friday! Just a quick post today, to share the new ACEOs I have up for auction on eBay, as well as a sneak peek of my latest illustration project. Definitely feeling the Halloween vibes already, so that has themed the new art cards this week!  The one currently up for auction is titled "Bone Garden"- a spritely goat nymph, frolicking through the garden of bones, collecting little pieces here and there in her tin pail.   "Bone Garden" is an original illustration, and she is currently up for auction on eBay HERE !   The OTHER new ACEO illustration I will be listing this week (Sunday morning, around 11am EST) is called "Candy Fairy"- sometimes my titles are not so creative, lol!  But she is very pretty, I like how the colors turned out: Again, "Candy Fairy" will be listed for auction (starting bid $7.35) on Sunday morning (10/10).  There are also a handful of other creepy/autumn/Halloween themed ACEOs up for auction now- you can see all my auc...

Work In Progress- MH Repaint Lagoona to Lalaloopsy

Image
Dolls! Yeee!  An update on my latest doll repaint, with lots of work in progress photos.   I recently acquired a Lalaloopsy Furry Grrs-Alot Girl doll (the more "teenage" version of the line) after falling in love with her character many years ago.  I also have a mini version of her "kid" doll.  The doll shown below is mine, yes, she is unboxed, missing a belt and some accessories, and I don't care, I love her to pieces...  (furry grrs alot) Because I love her style so very much, I wanted to do a recreation/homage to her with a Monster High repaint.  So, I dug through my art doll box and decided on a Lagoona Blue doll for a base. Her sculpt has a nice, round face, pouty lips, and generous eyes. Given how little detail Lalaloopsy dolls have in their faces, I have a lot of decisions to make about how I want her new face to look.  So while that brainstorming is happening, I start working on her outfit first. (Lagoona pre ...

Doll Repaint- Making a Goat Nymph

Image
Hello! There are no finished pieces to post this week, mainly because I have been working on a new doll. So, I am here to post some work in progress photos of her- warning, nude doll parts and disembodied limbs! I deconstructed her months ago, so all the factory paint and hair removal has not been documented. Above, the body, with head removed. I also cut open the back of her head after removing her hair, as I want to give her 3D eyes. The little white balls you see are eyeball whites (sclera)- I will use the butt end of a small paintbrush to give them indents. Other supplies are bamboo skewers (to give her goat legs), some sanding implements, and some clay shaping tools. Also a random comb. I love how Monster High doll feet are shaped. Unfortunately, for this character, I had to remove them, as she will be getting hooves. You can see the base sculpt of them, along with her tail. I used bamboo skewers, tinfoil, wire, and florist tape to create a st...
